Tickets - check!

Today I finally bought the tickets. Now I'm just counting the days and trying to see as many of my friends before I leave. I kinda still need to figure out where I'll be staying, but I guess one big decision a day should be enough. Tomorrow'll be all about dollars - and earning a little more money as well since I'll cover for another person. Neat!

I'm a little disappointed I didn't get tickets for a date earlier than I did, but on the other hand this leaves me with more time to say hi and bye to people. The downside though is that I'm completely tired of spending my days at home.

Maybe I should start packing? Figure out some prepaid cellphone solution or just do something constructive. At least watching Gossip Girl season 2 and 3 over again doesn't count as such...

Last Day

Everything today was about my forthcoming leave at work. I got a phone call from my boss asking me when I intended to stop and mentioned I had to teach the new me how to do things at work. Shit.. I'm really everything but the type you let instruct other people. And he's English so plenty more reason I could screw it up.

When I arrived at work my contact person brought up the topic once more. She really touched me when se said they were going to miss me. I'm only covering for someone else as she was on sick leave so I was really flattered that she'd miss me even though all along she knew I'd be gone one day. I decided to bake a cake for them.

Wednesday is the day I volunteer at the cafe. Today was Wednesday which means I was at the cafe. It seemed like today was the day all the new volunteers had decided to start. Pretty much fun although I had to teach one of the new ones a lot of things and as I mentioned before I'm not that type of person. Well, she said she liked working with me so I'm glad. I get so distracted I'm afraid to lose focus sometimes and appear rude.

It's hard to believe it's going to be months from now that I'll be back at the cafe. So weird and odd. I even get a hug from my boss and he's not even the hugging type! (except when he's drunk, but that's another story)

A lot to miss, but also a lot to look forward to! In less than two weeks I'll be off!

Them heartaches

While looking through my medical notes searching for my vaccination chart I stumbled upon this old-looking paper folder in my journal. The distinct look of being an official paper screamed at me as I looked at the words. Cardiology ward Skejby hospital.
What did this mean? My curiosity made me open the paper. To my big surprise this was a paper slip I was supposedly meant to give to my dentist or doctor if I was to have any surgery or things done with my teeth. Obviously I've never given this to anyone. Makes me wonder.

I always knew I was born with something wrong with my heart. I find it odd though that it could be worsened by bad dental care. Creepy considering I'm not paying much attention to this.

Additionally I discovered it's been 5 years since my last tetanus vaccine timed out. I'm shocked to discover this since I thought I was still covered by it. Damn. Anyhow I obviously need to have it renewed in order to go to Alaska without fearing any mayor infections. Luckily it's a pretty cheap vaccine :D

Leaving in...

A few months from this day I'll find myself boarding a plane in Hamburg or Copenhagen which will take me away from here. A long way away from here actually. It's going to be a smaller journey halfway around the world. I'm so excited and now that I know when I'll be able to leave I'm even more thrilled ad eager to get everything arranged.
People always seem to ask me the same questions: why Alaska? What would you be doing? All alone?? And yes I know it may be dangerous, but I can't let that keep me from living my dream now can I?
I'm so psyched and look forward to spending time in the wilderness of the last frontier. Just me and nature.

I'm playing with the thought of not buying a return ticket, but buy a ticket to Amsterdam instead. It seems like such a reasonable thing to do!! I wonder what my parents would say to this.

Celebration!

Yesterday was a blast! I had so much fun with two of my friends :) actually we should have been five people, but yeah that's how it is with this little group of different people.
We dressed up and had our own tiny fastelavns celebration with candy, fastelavnsboller and everything! I even went up in the attic and got out all my old Lego which we had tons of fun with! Soon a railroad, a zoo and a house was built! Amazing!
So much fun just watching the train choo choo away.

Today it's back work and the events of the everyday. I'm starting to dislike it more and more and wonder what I'll be doing next year when I have to get on in my life (can't be stuck in this phase for the rest of my life) I have no idea how long I can travel around for the money I've made so far, but I guess I'll find out.

Summer can't come too soon!

A Christmas tale

My friend was brought home three days ago. He agreed to take home with his parents. My entire family is sooo happy and clapping their hands sighing "thank God" while I'm on the verge of puking every time they tell someone he's back home....

He was tired of school.

Whenever someone brings up a topoc which I dislike I keep passive. I shut up like a clam and just sit there trying to keep their voices out of my head.

I like the way my friend got from place to place. Walking and hitching rides. None of my family members seem able to relate (except my brother and cousins) they are all schocked.
Mu dad keeps shouting up about how the boy should be allowed to do as he wishes. Be a carpenter, plumber or whatever. They try to rationalize his ways, but in the end I don't think they understand it one bit.

I keep wondering how they will react this Summer when I leave for a different continent for who lnows how long.

The first thing my grandpa said was: "You can find gold over there!"

Sure, that's why I'm going..........
